My husband and I had a 12 hours layover in Beijing we landed at 1am and were flying out the same day at 1pm. We did the Great Wall of China tour with Jonny which was great. He picked us up at 7am at our hotel I had given him my maiden name which was different from the last name we had at the hotel. Jonny took it upon himself to ensure that he get in contact with us to make sure he was at the right location. He took us from the hotel to the great wall of china and even had extra jackets in the trunk if we were cold. We spent about 1.5-2 hours at the wall which was great. If you have to choose between what site to visit I would def recommend the great wall of china! Jonny factored in time to ensure we had time to toboggan down the wall and to go see the little shops at the visitors centre. It was a cold day, Jonny find us a good place for hot tea, very soon we all warm up,it was the best tea i have ever had, Jonny then drove us to the airport and walked us right into security. He was a great tour guide and spoke english very well. We went early in the morning which was great because the tour buses had not arrived so we shared the section we were in with about 5-7 other people. I would highly recommend this tour with LAYOVER TOUR BEIJING. Jonny thought of all the pictures we would want when we were too busy taking in the view (he got some great shoots of us!) he also had wifi in the car as well for the hour ride which is always a plus. You will not be disappointed! Thanks again Jonny and Layover tour beijing!

My husband and I had a 9 hour layover in Beijing en route to Thailand. We both wanted to see the Great Wall of China so my husband found Layover Tour Beijing online after reading the tripadvisor review. William was great at setting up the tour and communicating with us via email. He sent us our itinerary and broke down the hours so we felt comfortable that it would be enough time. Our guide Jenny was very courteous and hospitable. Carried our bag to the car and made sure we were taken care off. On the drive there he gave us lots of information about the Wall and its history. She's very knowledgeable! When we got to the Great Wall he took lots of our pictures and made sure we saw everything we wanted to. She even gave us tips on how to haggle with souvenir shops. All in all, our tour was perfect! We definitely recommend using their services. We are recommending them to friends and family when they visit as well.
With an 10 hour layover, We were able to see the Great Wall at Mutianyu and also briefly visited the Forbidden City. Though 10 hours is not long enough, especially with the drive time, it was the perfect tease to make me want to come back and experience everything in full. William was my guide for the day and I couldn't have asked for better company. He is incredibly knowledgable and very funny! (Make sure you ask him to do his Indian accent. He actually had a video go viral because of it, and a girl asked him to stop and take a photo with her!) He went above and beyond to make sure that my time there was as stress-free as possible. He picked me up right outside the security check point and dropped me off 2 hours before my flight which was the perfect amount of time, even with some long lines to get through security again. Overall we would definitely recommend this layover tour to anyone who wants a taste test of Beijing! Not only did I learn a lot about both Chinese history and current culture, but we feel that I've made a friend as well! Don't miss out, definitely give it a go!
I had a 9 hour layover in Beijing when i fly from Los angeles to Bongkok, i found LAYOVER TOUR BEIJING after reading the tripadvisor reviews.
My tour guide was William and ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! I inquired last minute and he was so accommodating. I flew with friends, but the tour guide they reached out to discouraged them from doing the tour with the toboggan option. William showed me that it was possible and he showed me parts of the Chinese culture along the way. He was even my personal photographer since I was by myself. William’s professionalism included matching coats(so I would always be able to find him and I was cold) to allowing me to see parts of China in a way that I could take it all in, to good local food, oh and a goodie bag. I got a T-shirt and other Chinese souvenirs and I still had time to spare!! He even walked me back in the airport. I gained so much knowledge about the culture. I was able to toboggan, which was the best part of The Great Wall. I took a chance on the tour because another tour guide said it wasn’t possible, and I’m oh so glad I did!! Best layover tour ever !! ![]() We had a 12 hour layover in Beijing on our way back from Bangkok and I wanted to find something to do while we waited for our flight. I searched for layover tours after seeing a recommendation on Reddit and paid for a great wall tour after reading some great reviews. I messaged Willy the day before while in Bangkok and he responded immediately. We paid via PayPal and had a confirmation shortly after. Willy picked us up at 6AM on the dot and gave us the option of visiting the main great wall entrance and getting a pass to avoid the line, or heading to another secluded entrance an hour farther. We went with the farther option (partly so we could sleep more on the way) and we got there just in time for sunrise. The second, more secluded option is the way to go. We hiked up a path to a completely empty stretch of the Great Wall. The sunrise was absolutely spectacular and our guide had an encyclopedic knowledge of Chinese history relating to the construction of the wall and he spoke excellent English. We didn't have any warm clothing since we were returning from Thailand, and he even had winter coats for us to wear! This was one of the best highlights of my trip to Asia. Willy is great company, a great conversationist, and an even better photographer. He took SO many great pictures of us. We were starving after hiking the wall and he even took us to a small dumpling shop in a village on the way back to the airport. We pigged out and got back to the airport with time to spare.
I'd recommend this tour to anyone I know. It's an excellent deal for the price and you won't be disappointed. |
